Bourns has announced a AEC-Q200 compliant, automotive grade semi-shielded power inductor series that operates across -40 to 150°C.

SRN8040HA inductors are constructed using a “silicon-based coating that offers magnetic shielding”, according to the company. They “are designed to release lower magnetic field radiation compared to non-shielded inductors, and are a more cost-efficient alternative to fully shielded ferrite-based inductors”.

The data sheet remains quiet on the shielding performance – Electronics Weekly has requested values.

As inuctance values range across 0.5 to 100 μH, while saturation (-30% inductance) spans 15 – 1.3A and current handling from 10 to 1A.

Size is 8.15 x 8.15 x 4.2mm.

“The features and capabilities of these inductors make them especially well-suited for dc-dc converters and power supplies in automotive, consumer, industrial and telecom applications,” said Bourns.
